A Few Of My Favorite Things

Welcome, Hooked on Houses tourists! Thanks for stopping by!

Here are some of my favorite Christmas decorations and ornaments as well as a few other holiday photos.

Pier One Imports Nativity, 1990

Our live tree, 2008
Robert and Juliette pick it out every year.
Multi-colored lights on trees always remind me of children.

My beautiful daughter Juliette taking her place
at the school Christmas program, 2008

B.C. Clark snow globe, 2001

B.C. Clark snow globe, 2000

Handmade Toy Soldier, 1960s

2000, Handmade Wool Snowman,
by Oklahoma artist and sheep farmer "Leslie"

One of Juliette's handmade Christmas treasures

Handmade Christmas Ornament by Juliette
Sand Dollar with glitter and paint, 2003

Juliette's handmade Christmas Decoration, 2004

Juliette's handmade button wreath, 2001

2002, Bliss's handmade origami ornament.

2006, Infant Jesus Shrine from LK

2004, Nativity from Guatemala - gift from LK

2006, Another shrine from LK, one of my dearest girlfriends

2008, My Horn Seed Ornament representing my three little birds:
Juliette, Sullivan and Bridgette

2008, This is the ornament Sullivan picked out.

2008, The Old World Christmas ornament I picked out for Bridgette

2008, The red birds in the middle.
This is the ornament I picked out for Juliette.
I liked it because it reminds me of our relationship. I am this momma bird and I keep a close eye on her, and fight off the mean Blue Jays.

1977, a gift from my piano teacher, Brenda

2007, Robert bought these bells last year - one for each of our Family Five.

2007, Ballerina ornament

These were a gift from my sister, Faith, in 1994 or 1995.

2004, I purchased these at an estate sale in Oklahoma City.

All our favorite Christmas books. Most of these were purchased for Juliette
when I was a single mom and spent all my lonely hours reading to her.
The Charlie Brown book was bought at a garage sale down the street.

2008, Our Porch. I decided to try something different this year.

You can't tell in this picture, but there are
green and pink wreaths in the second story windows, too.

How BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing your decorations. I can tell that your home is warm, inviting, friendly, cozy, filled with love & laughter. Have a wonderful sunny, warm weekend before winter arrives in OK once more.

Blessed be...

Oh, I lost track of all the things I wanted to comment on. I love the photo of Juliette's pageant. It's gorgeous the way she stands out and everything else is blurred - and the panorama is cool.

Love the Pier One Nativity. That is so adorable!

All of your ornaments are lovely - especially, of course, the ones that were handmade. Was that a marshmallow on the top of one?

Your porch and home look so welcoming! May I come in for a cup of hot chocolate and a candy cane?

@Poetikat - C'mon in!!!

@ Kristen and Poetikat - That was one of my favorite pics of the evening. I didn't know if anyone would connect with it or not, but I just loved it even though you can't see her sweet little face and pretty wavy hair. =)

@Oklahoma Farmgirl - I'm going to soak in the 60 degree weather as long as possible. I've noticed people across the Blogosphere are always suprised to learn how cold and wretched the weather can be in an Oklahoma winter. In addition to all the love and laughter there is the occassional, "GET YOUR BUTT IN HERE!" Hahahahaha! Thank you so much!

Hi, Jen! Thanks for joining my blog party and inviting us into your home. Enjoyed seeing your decorations and ornaments. Really liked the idea of hanging the silver balls from the "Family" sign for each member of your family.

Merry Christmas!!
