Why'd You Leave Me?

There was a time when I believed that you belonged to me
But now I know your heart is shackled to a memory
The more I learn to care for you, the more we drift apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart?

Please come back. I promise, I'll be nice.

DDNuts was very close to my heart and I was also shocked at the closed sign. I felt betrayed that I had gone to the store on a cold saturday morning looking to warm up with something sweet only to find the building abandoned. No goodby, no see ya later, not even a dear john letter. But fortunately for me when it comes to food I rebound pretty quickly and within minutes I was at the doorstep of Best Donuts. And they are the best. So so long Dunkin Donuts I've found a new and more tasty donut.

Got any Tim Horton's out there? (Canadian coffee/donut shop that finally found its way to MI). They have WAAAAY better coffee. But I always did like Dunkin' Donuts better -- especially the powdered sugar ones.

As always I love your new header and wonder when you are going to offer to make them for other bloggers for a hefty chunk o change.

And BTW: your winter photos on Thursdaysweettreat were absolutely awesome.

I was expecting DANNY BOY. Or maybe some Enya. Or Loreena MCKennit. Get thee some celtic music, woman.

I would cry if my DD went out of biz. I love the bavarian creme filled donuts so much, I should be on all the posters for Bavaria. eating a donut, of course.

@anonymous(ROB) - yes, but Dunkin has the cool orange and red and they were the only drive-thru intercom in town that worked and the lady in the drivethru became my friend over the years and now she's GONE and I don't even know her name! wahhhhhhhhh!

@Nadine - yes - people eat donuts in a bad economy. their closing - a very bad sign me thinks of the days to come!

@Naomi - no Tim Horton's - we have crispy creme, which everyone raved about about, but me loves the DD. I'd love to try them. What I didn't like about DD's coffee is they sometimes served it WARM. Egads.

@CGDK-Thank you! By February 26, I couldn't look at the Valentine one anymore. Seriously. It was getting to me. hahaha

@Lorrie - I keep meaning to email you! I have thought about that comment you left 100 times and talked to Robert about it. It made me happy! I will email you b/c I have some questions.

@Le - Thanks, Le. As I said to CGDK, if I had to look at that Feb. masthead one more day, I was going to shut down my blog. Plus, I was aiming for a shorter page load time. I'm not sure I've achieved and may have to go smaller, still. The page load drives me crazy.

Awww, (((Jen))). Donuts are the tool of the Devil, but even I like to partake in them now and again. I really feel your pain. Harry W. Schwartz bookstores, a Milwaukee icon, are closing after being in business for decades. I'm so depressed that I need to eat a donut.

Its terrible when something you love leaves. I'm worried about our one remaining Johnny's Hamburgers in Tulsa. The others have closed and the last one doesn't seem to have too much business.

btw, Thanks very much for signing up to follow my blog.

@Yogi - It doesn't seem like Johnny's is doing too well here, either. I really think we're going to see quite a few restaurants...don't say it...stay positive...hahahaha.

@Jennifer K. - That's how I feel about Horn Seed and Full Circle Bookstore. I'd have to eat a more than just donuts to cure my grief. Probably need donuts *and* candy. Lethal combo.

Hey Jen,

After I left the library yesterday afternoon, I walked past a Dunkin Donuts on Wisconsin Ave. in downtown Milwaukee. I should of had a donut on your behalf, but my ass would never forgive me.

My co-workers and I are quite traumatized over this one too!
