Easter Bunny Cake Wreck

By now, you're bound to have heard of the enormously popular Web log, Cake Wrecks. They won a big blog award for 2008, and the blogger has a book coming out featuring the best cake wrecks ever published on her blog!

I submitted my Sponge Bob Square Pants cake wreck to them in November 2008, but I don't think it was a big enough disaster. Here is my latest attempt at cake decorating.

Things started out on a very high note.

We imagined a light pink cake that we'd sprinkle with coconut.
Things kind of a took a wrong turn when I put too much neon food-coloring in the frosting, which made bunny Pepto-pink.
After Juliette put big blue blobs of icing on Bunny for eyes,
she decided to cover them up with sunglasses.

So, I'm not taking full responsibility for this little Easter Bunny cake wreck.

I am, however, taking responsibility for eating half of Bun-Bun's face off.

Honestly, what does this have to do with Easter?

About as much as Max's Chocolate Chicken, but who can resist?

Tomorrow, time permitting, I will post pictures of
my kids at the neighborhood egg hunt,
and talk about new life, because I have more to say about this,
and how God restores the years the locusts have eaten,
than possibly anything else.

I think the cake is so cute! It reminds me of the one Greg and Jayson made during a father/son cake decorating contest at church. They bought an angel food cake - the kind that has the hole in the center and frosted it with different shades of CoolWhip - (using food coloring). They made it look like a man's head! They put a large flesh colored lollypop down the center for the nose, sprinkled the top, the cheeks and the chin with toasted coconut - and added sunglasses. It was hysterical - because it looked just like Greg! I THINK YOU AND YOUR KIDDOS DID GREAT! What a wonderful memory!!!! Love, Lin

I love your Easter Bunny even he does look a little sinister with the shades.

@Melessa - Thank you! Max is so funny, and Ruby, always the big sister. =/

@Riley - Well, hello! It's nice to make your acquaintance. Are you the little man I'm saving my Bridgy for? ;) Please come on over. Bring your mum.

@Lin - That is hysterical. I wish I could have been there to see it. It was quite a crisis running out of orange jelly beans for the ears. =0

@Yogi - Thank you. He does kind of look evil.

I thought you were going to make a Stratocaster cake at first.
