Roundup: Generation X Headlines and Blog Posts

Imagine my surprise to see popular Oklahoma blogger Michael Bates blogging about Generation X and the church. Today, he announced on his blog, Batesline, that next Sunday (April 19), a friend of his, Forrest Christian, will host a webinar (8 p.m. CDT), "Why You Hate Your Church."

The webinar is designed for "disaffected evangelical Christians from Generation X." The traditional fee for the webinar has been waived. Space is limited.

Instead of cutting and pasting everything from Bateline, please visit the aforementioned link to his blog. He provides links to more information about the webinar.

Here is an exceptional blog post that is like an Ode to the Mullet. It's by the blogger, Popcorn in my Bra. You'll be glad you clicked over.

The Albany Times Union reports, Trying to make sense of a new generation. (It's Gen X's turn to understand a younger generation.)

Babble.com reports The New Celibacy. Are Generation X Parents Giving Up On Sex?

***

Business and Leadership reports that Twitter is the Facebook of Generation X.

Latchkey Man remembers Kurt Cobain and the 15th anniversary of his death. (April 8)

While we're on the subject, the Generation X blogger at Chart Rigger believes Generation X came to an end with the death of Cobain.

***

The blogger at New Geography says Generation X is deep underwater without SCUBA gear - as we relate to the deepening global economic crisis. The post primarily highlights Gen Y's first recession.

***

This is bound to set the hair of a few Gen Xers on fire. The blogger Chris Navin highlights the words of Sandra Tsing Loh in The Atlantic: "This economic catastrophe is teaching the Xers that their prized self- expression and their embrace of personal choice leads to … the collapse of capitalism."

The blogger Crayon Beats thinks Generation X's desire to chill and have independence will bring back Boho Chic. She may be right, but guess what? I never knew Boho Chic was out because I didn't know it existed in the first place. Having disclosed that, I really like it.

Did I miss anything fantastic?

Thanks for the shout out, Jen. I really appreciate it.

And has it really been 15 years since Kurt Cobain died? Wow.

Boho Chic, soon to be at Urban Outfitters costing way too much money.

Thanks for the mention of my "Why You Hate Your Church" webinar, Jen! GenX has some different issues than other groups had at this age and it has created a lot more struggle than it needed to.

Thanks for the mention of the 'boho chic' blog from CrayonBeats. However, I'd like to clarify that the writer of that particular blog was Yuri/Geministar, and not CrayonBeats. ^^
