troy bilt wants to kiss my (gen X) grass

A couple weeks ago, I announced to Robert: "I am 41 years old and I would like to have an edged lawn. Someday. Preferably before I turn 50."

Over the past few years, Robert and I have done well to just get the lawn mowed, let alone anything else. Seriously, between raising a tween and having two more babies nearly back-to-back, and Robert taking part-time classes for a second degree in accounting (in addition to working full time!), we've hardly had time to pay the light bill, let alone create a perfect lawn.

All the more reason to acknowledge the brilliance of Troy Bilt, the yard equipment maker. They are aiming a national effort at Generation X. They've launched a new ad campaign featuring people working in their yards. The Gen Xers wear shirts that say, "I heart spring" and "Compost happens." One guy has a belt buckle that says "Kiss my grass." The campaign positions the brand as a partner in Generation X's lawn endeavors.

Seriously, we need a partner, preferably in the form of an edger that will operate itself.

Austin Hartley-Leondard's Shinin Down is featured in Troy Bilt's ads. You can download the song at their Web site.

Just go buy a really nice weed eater that is snap-on part compatible. Get the edger attachment and VOILA, edged yard. :)

My Dad made me edge the yard the entire time I was old enough to do yard work :( hehe, does that make me an expert?

I just promised $200 to a nice man who will bring a team of workmen (are they cute?) to recreate some of the beautiful landscaping that our family wrecked by moving into our home in 2001. I wish having goats was legal in the city -- at least our lawn would be nicely trimmed!

Ginger and I bought a very cool and inexpensive ELECTRIC edger at Home Depot for around $69.00 about a month ago. I couldn't be more pleased with it. It zips right thru even overgrown edges and there is no need for some expensive troy-built gadget that requires gas and maintenance.

The hard part of edging is the first time you do it. I turn my weedeater sideways to do it.
