ross honeywill tries to ruin monday for Generation X

Go ahead and ask it. You know you want to. What is all this Generation X stuff about anyway? I mean, afterall, Guy Kawasaki still hasn't even given us our own category on Alltop, but the Boomers get one.

Well, if you don't get it or you're a Gen Xer and you want to get fired up on Monday, just go ahead and hop on over to Ross Honeywill's article about how the jig is up for Generation X. He writes about how Boomers are "mad as hell" and then brags that they have all the wealth and power and "literally rule" the world. He goes on to say Boomers are better because they want an "exciting life" unlike Generation X and Generation Y who just want a "secure life."

Great. So will we now see even more Cialis and Avodart commercials on TV?

Jen, I am proud to report that it is true that boomers ARE leading truely exciting lives. In fact several helped me this weekend at at one of our country's leading warehouse stores. Way to go boomers, thanks for going that extra mile in showing the rest of us up in dominating the exciting warehouse service market. I predict that soon they will go after the silent generations stronghold as wal-mart greeters. Those damned boomers just seem to know were action is. WriterX

@WRITER X - You had me going there a second, but now I know what you are talking about - the vast majority of new hires at Lowe's, Home Depot, Wal Mart etc., are Baby Boomers. They are drawing their retirements and social security and working part-time. Interesting!

As usual the writer (Ross Honeywill) misses the point: Boomers are very influential, but eventually they will all die. Old(er) people can only hold onto power for so long, and when the end comes, it comes quickly. Millennials (aka Gen Y) will be taking over in another 10-15 years and will have to fix much of what was torn down by previous generations. My opinion: Gen X (of which I am a proud member) will likely get short shrift in the history books. Boomers and Millennials will get the glory while Gen X will do the heavy lifting. But hey, were used to it.

I almost pished my pants laughing at Writer X's comment. Too true! Why is this a contest over who's having a more fulfilling life? Don't you think it's just a tad insecure that someone needs to BLOG ABOUT THEIR WORLD DOMINATION rather than just, well, dominate? I mean, if you truly rocked your world, wouldn't you be too busy rocking? Just a thought. *lol*

I actually managed to get a quote out of the guy:

"It's true that all generational segments are fatuous – Gen X; Gen Y; Baby Boomer – they are all defined by one factor, age. So all they do is tell us how old someone is. That's why the NEO typology, defined by 100 behavioural, 82 attitudinal and 12 discretionary spending factors, is so essential in bringing a one-dimensional view of society to life."

Shorter version: "These are people like me, so of course they're better."

It looks like a misleading article to me. He identifies a subgroup of well to do boomers and then makes it sound like all boomers are like that.
Time will march on, us boomers will retire and die and Gen X,Y,Z,AA will step up to replace us.

Ross Honeywell sounds like a dillweed. And so funny he brags how his boomer co-horts are running everything when so many companies are being driven into the ground. Uh, I wouldn't brag about that.

@JENNIFER K - Touche!!! Luv that.

Jen- did you happen to see an email address for this clown?

I definitely would like to initiate a conversation with him.

I may be going blind, or I've had too much salt water in my eyes over the last few days, but I didn't locate an address.

@WEK - No, I couldn't find one either. And, how archaic and backward of that stooopid site ton not provider a platform for reader comment OR email. I had to try to lure him in with a title and he's not even on top of things enough to google his own name. (Hi Ross) (For future reference.) hahahahaha!

Don't let him fool you. He's arrogant enough to Google himself daily.
