Today kicks off my virutal Generation X Halloween Party!
Every day during October, I will feature a different picture of
Gen Xers in Halloween costumes from the 1960s to the 1980s.

I'll warn you in advance, the Gen-X halloween experience
was not especially politically correct.
If you have a picture or Halloween memoir you'd like to share, let me know.
I hope you enjoy the party!

The brother of the subject wrote as a caption for this picture:
"Can you imagine dressing a child as a cigar in this day and age?
Apparently my parents thought it was a great costume
for my brother in the early 1970s."

I've never, ever seen a cigar costume. I hope I never do again!
I think this CIGAR might win the contest for the worst costume I've ever seen.
LOL...
It's original, though! EEEK!

@YOGI - me too.
@BECK - No kidding. This screams "my mother had nothing for me to wear for Halloween and tore up a bunch of brown paper sacks. Sadly, there are more politically incorrect costumes coming...including [sigh] a beer can.
The trouble with dressing as a cigar is that eventually everyone wants to see your butt.
Wait, what? Oh. Never mind.
I have to say it made me laugh... I'm quite glad my family werent really into photos, because although halloween didnt feature much this side of the pond in the late 70's/ early 80's i do remember being dressed as the queen of hearts and my brother as the knave for a fancy dress something or another at school...
You wanna talk about not being very PC...my people thought it would be cute to dress me in blackface.
not cool.
I think I was 2.
I hear this is the year that cigar costumes are going to be all the rage with the rich elite, I mean republican party, but only for their kids. xo
I actually got a big chuckle from the pic. Thanks for what I'm sure will be an interesting series for the month... Looking forward to more pics.
this is awesome! you should have gone as a cigarette!
This is great! Well, not the costume, but the idea... ;) We usually didn't come up with an idea until an hour before we went trick-or-treating, which meant I was usually either wearing my mom's bathrobe and some curlers in my hair or my dad's coveralls and a farm cap.
Reminds me of Disney's Pinocchio movie when they showed a kid smoking a cigar.
