The Lucille Lortel Theatre, New York City’s premier Off-Broadway playhouse since 1955, presents the premier of Still Life. In his review of the play written by Alexander Dinelaris (photo left) (doesn’t he look like a terrific person!?), Andy Probst wrote, “the disaffection many Gen X-ers have for their lives is put under the microscope.”
Ben Brantley, who reviewed the production for the New York Times wrote, “Still Life aspires to be a portrait of a generation — the one that came after the Baby Boomers and has been stamped with an X — that is too scared to move forward.”
It is really me. Hardly famous, but really me. That photo you have up is of the wonderful actor Dominick Chianese from the Sopranos. I am an X’er so a bit younger. (41) Our pictures from opening night are on line if you google “Still Life+MCC” or my name. I was forwarded your blog site by someone who was watching all notices on Still Life. Again, thank you for your kind thoughts. They are always deeply appreciated.
Best,
Alex
Fantastic post Jen! I want to see it too. Thanks for introducing us to Alex Dinelaris. He and I are one degree separated twice now – my friend directs that Drama Desk Awards of which Mr. Dinelaris has been nominated twice.
@ALEX DINELARIS -You’re the first nearly famous person to leave a comment on my blog! =) Nearly a year-and-a-half of blogging and a kazillion shout-outs – if it’s really you, you made my day! Best of luck with your premier. I wish we could see it in my hometown. -jen
I too wish it was closer to home…especially because I adore Sarah Paulson. Did you ever see her in “Studio 60”? My wife and I both cried when they cancelled it. It had wonderful GenX themes and undertones.
I read this, and it warms me. Thank you most sincerely… I’m blowing kisses back.
Much Appreciation…
Alex Dinelaris
