How fun - there is whole neighborhood near where my parents live in Washington that decorates their whole street - it is fun to see people getting into it.
Jen...your blog postings this season have single-handedly restored the charm of this holiday for me. As a result, our family is having super week of Jack-O-Lanterns, scary stories, spiced cider and playing in the leaves.
I've enjoyed seeing these special houses myself and the neighborhoods that host them.
Jen, those houses are amazing. It is a wonderful thing that ordinary citizens in Okc put out the time, effort and expense to make complete strangers happy. Rob
nice review of some of the halloween decorations around. Had planned to do some of my own this year - but alas had to have surgery so it did not happen...
@ANDI - I read an article today about some Gen Xers who live on the same street. They hand out candy to the adults, too. I loved that!
@JIM - That means so much to me. I had a friend about 12 to 14 years ago - Kit. She was very big in to autumn. I took my lead from her. She was something else. A very special person! I still remember her display of pumpkin bread and fall leaves at ACOG.
@junkdrawer67 - I have a post coming up about Gen X and halloween. I wrote something similar last Halloween, but this dives a little deeper - why gen x loves halloween so much.
every time someone subscribes to this blog, a gen xer is promoted and gen x brownies show up to clean your house.

This blog is both celebration and commentary for Generation X, those former latchkey kids born between 1961 and 1981. I write about Gen X at the four-way stop of faith, culture, career and family.
The name, Are you there God? It's Me, Generation X, is taken from the popular 1970 book, Are You There God? It's me Margaret. Practically every Generation X girl read it.
My nephew Jayson, a Gen Xer born in 1980, and a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard, leaves for Iraq on February 6, 2010. Please keep him and all of our troops in your prayers.

Great decorations! We love Halloween. Our fav holiday, a lot of which is because it is such a low-stress, low-obligation holiday.
Unfortunately, this year we're scaling back on decorations as well as our annual Halloween party, because of the economy.

That's some serious decorating!

@KENT - Surgery! Are you OK? Saying a prayer for your speedy recovery!
doing fine....getting better every day.... thanks for your prayers and the concern
Oh...I love the 15th and Hudson one! I also enjoyed your list of reasons why we enjoy Halloween...some were things I hadn't thought about before. :)
I really like that last house. These pictures are great! Thanks for sharing, Jen. I hope you and the kids have a happy Halloween!
