25 Greatest Gen X Books of All Time from Details

A group of bookish folk put together a list of 25 of the Greatest Generation X books of all time. In other words, books written by Gen Xers more apt to use a computer than an Underwood; more affected by Nintendo than Nagasaki.

Two of my favorites are on the list - David Foster Wallace and Malcolm Gladwell; however, I'm not happy at all about the lack of women featured. Only four out of 25 are women. The only ones these yahoos included were Jhumpa Lahiri, Adrian Nicole LeBlanc, Donna Tartt and Zadie Smith. This is all-too typical of these lists. Politics Daily recently reported on women being snubbed on book lists.

In response to a recent Publisher's Weekly snub, Women in Letters and Literary Arts compiled a list of the best books by women in 2009. This list includes fiction, nonfiction and poetry and children and youth.

Can you think of any Gen X women writers who should have been included on the list?

That's interesting that the first list left off:
Alice Munro
Margaret Atwood
A.S. Byatt
Janet Evanovich
Louise Erdrich
Diana Gabaldon
Jane Hamilton
Barbara Kingsolver
Sara Paretsky
Barbara Ehrenreich
Temple Grandin

What's up with that?
