With colors on the snowy linen land...
One day, when my brother and I were pretty young and both still living at home, I sang and played a song for him on the piano. Neither one of us had any idea what the song was about. This is probably a direct reflection on the drastic cuts in arts education funding, which pervaded public schools in the 70s and 80s, and impacted Gen X possibly more than any other generation before or since, but, that, my friends, is a story for another day. So, I carried the songbook into my father's study one night and I read to him the lyrics. Without pause he told me the song was about the life and times of the artist Vincent Van Gogh. And, oh, by the way, Jenni, he cut off his ear and mailed it to his lover.
Say what, Dad?
So, I go and tell my brother that Dad said the mysterious song, which by now you have figured out was Don McClean's Starry Starry Night, was about Vincent Van Gogh, and oh by the way, Billy, he cut off his ear and mailed it to his lover.
And Billy and I looked at each other in amazement and Billy said, "Dad is genius."

Beautiful photo of your brother and father....gee you and your brother sure look related...LOL
Isn't it a wonderful feeling when we realise how clever and wise our parents are. I loved that song too, must have heard and sang along to it 5,000 times.

Genius dad has equally genius daughter. I love that photo! Honestly, when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was Juliette. I can't believe how much they look alike!
