High time for a Gen X novel written by a woman

Cover of "A Fortunate Age: A Novel"Here is a review of a book written by Joanna Smith Rakoff called A Fortunate Age. It's published on the Madison Public Library's blog by a girl Xer (ha!) named Molly. This sounds like a great read.

Did you buy the Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing? I can't believe that came out 10 years ago.

I've not read "A Fortunate Age" but it sounds similar to a the novel "The Emperor's Children" by Claire Messud, also a GenXer (born 1966). People might want to check that book out as well.

Perhaps I notice it more because I work in a library but if you look I think you'll see that more and more GenXers are publishing novels. They might not all be GenXer-ish, but still...as a literary group we're coming into our own.

Even the popular genre market has it's share of GenXe, such as:

Harlen Coben (b. 1962)
Dennis Lehane (b. 1965)
Dan Brown (b. 1965)
John Altman (b. 1969)
