I love this blog post from the Katherine Hobson of the Wall Street Journal’s health blog. I mean, imagine wanting to see your own medical records! Like that was EVER too much to ask. Hand ’em over dude. After all, our health problems are funding your opulent lifestyle.
Here is an excerpt:
Generation X… may be the group of consumers who actually do prod the system into changing its ways. “If there’s an epicenter of change, it’s that group,” he says. “There’s definitely a generational wall between the boomers and seniors who say, ‘It is what it is,’ and Gen X, which says the system should do a lot of things it’s not doing now. They want to see their own records, they want to know whether a doctor is competent or not and they want to see prices up front.”
Case in Point: This episode of Seinfeld features Elaine (Julia Louis Dreyfus, b. 1961) attempting to get her hands on her medical chart. This is so funny! Enjoy!
What are your thoughts on Generation X and healthcare? Should we be able to see our own medical files anytime we want?
@YOGI – Robert read my post and reminded me of this hilarious scene from Seinfeld. Check it out!
Jen you know that we have “the greatest health care system in the world.” Why would anybody want to change it?
