I took a picture of Roy G. Biv today, and he looks amazing.

In 2008, when I started practicing photography, I became very intrigued by light. I love images that reflect the bokeh effect. I aim to take a lot of them and I have posted a few on this blog. I am also intrigued by the Kirlian effect. I've posted several pictures that boast this phenomenon.

This morning, my eye caught a full spectrum of light in the neighbor's front yard. It occured when sunlight hit water from her sprinkler. I ran inside and got my camera and took this picture. It looks grainy, however, it is not grain, but droplets of water acting as a prism. When the sunlight strikes, it creates the spectrum of color. It's Roy G. Biv, the personified acronymn for red, orange, yellow, green blue indigo and violet.

Seeing this today reminded me of the amazing things I probably miss daily in my rush to get things done. My higher calling each and every day is to live in the spirit, not the flesh, and to embrace the full spectrum of light, that which is created naturally, and not forced by me.

This meditation reminds me of Christ's words: "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Do you want the light of life or do you find the darkness more engaging? What of you is reflected when sunlight strikes? Are you standing in the right place, absorbing the right things, revealing to the world your full spectrum of color and light? Do you incite the failure of others or waste time shining light on imperfection? Do you shatter the darkness of failure with your prism of mercy, hope and belief?
