I have visited the blog, Kindertrauma, several times over the past year or so, but to my knowledge, I have never linked to it as it is rather dark. Nevertheless, it is reflective of the Generation X childhood experience, which included kid devil movies like Damien and Chucky.
In the author’s own words:
KINDERTRAUMA is about the movies, books, and toys that scared you when you were a kid. It’s also about kids in scary movies, both as heroes and villains. And everything else that’s traumatic to a tyke!
Through reviews, stories, artwork, and testimonials, we mean to remind you of all the things you once tried so hard to forget.
I’ve never liked the horror genre. I had exposure to a few horror movies as a pre-adolescent and they gave me nightmares for years. These titles included the original The Last House on the Left and the original Friday the 13th, all without parental consent, of course. I’m never letting my kids anywhere near this stuff. That goes for lesser titles, too, like The Blob and Soylent Green.
Interestingly, I have never seen even one of the child devil movies so often written about by generational theorists in relation to Generation X. As they always say, we were delivered into the most anti-child phase modern history has ever seen, and so go the traumafessions.
