Last night, with only a few seconds on the clock, the Oklahoma City Thunder lost their last game (by ONE point) against the L.A. Lakers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. I love basketball and I love the Oklahoma City Thunder.

I was born in L.A. and Robert was born in Oakland, California. Until OKC got their own NBA team, we were actually Lakers fans. I'm so glad we have our own hometown team to cheer for now, but last night was a bummer-fer-sur.

So, I love basketball. As a kid there were two things I wanted badly to do. One was twirl a fire baton. The other was see the Harlem Globetrotters in person.



In case you don't know, the Harlem Globetrotters are an exhibition basketball team that combines comedy, athleticism and theater.

In 1970, Hanna-Barbera launched the Harlem Globetrotters, a Saturday morning cartoon. It aired from September 1970 to May 1973. It was originally broadcast on CBS, and later re-run on NBC as The Go-Go Globetrotters.

For awhile, the Thunder trained at my alma mater, Southern Nazarene University. One day about a year ago  while driving down 39th Expressway between Bethany and Warr Acres, Oklahoma, I spotted Kevin Durant, Thunder star and the youngest leading scorer in NBA history on his glorious green bike. I had my camera with me and shot this photo of him. Check out the word Ninja on his bike. In a stunning revelation of age, Durant was born a year after I graduated college.
