In the summer of 1979, a group of friends from a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a Super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly thereafter, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could imagine.
The above text is the official description of Super 8 (named for Super 8 mm film), a sci-fi movie I want to take my 13-year-old to see. It's been called The Goonies of Generation Z, and opens on Friday, June 10.

OMG you read my mind, I totally want to see this this weekend. I don't know much about the movie, but for some reason I thought ET but in a way it seems like the perfect combination of the two and summer of 79,(even though I was only 6 that year)... makes it even better!

We saw it yesterday and LOVED IT! It feels like classic Spielberg. There are so many things that hint back to his films and imagery that reminds you of E.T., Close Encounters, etc.
