I was watching old mtv reruns this weekend and couldn't get over how different the first real world was compared to now.
Mexican Radio by Wall of Voodoo is a definite highlight. Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n Roses...well, anything by GnR! I love all of your choices too. Today's music seems so boring in comparison!
@JEN C - I agree with the boring part; and everyone seems to be a paradoy of Madonna. I'm still bummed about Winehouse. In a sea or imitators, she was an invention all her own.
@BELLAVIDA MTV - the real MTV before it got weird and Jersey-Shorish - I MISS.
You can tell we're X'ers; we both published little items on this.
I still like watching the "Glory Days" video too, although I feel a little squicky at Patti Scialfa's prominence over Julianne Phillips' given what was starting to go on at the time.
But we'll have to agree to disagree on the Palmer video; to me the completely over-the-top presentation of the women in it make it a perfect satire of the way most of the videos from around then used women as decoration rather than characters.
Long time no speak my dear friend!
As you know I am passionate about all kinds of music and these MTV songs brought the 1980's memories flooding back.
I forgot how handsome Bruce Springfield was/is. Love that guy and Cyndi Lauper she is totally awesome.
I will have to think about my favourite video memory and get back to you.
Hope all is well in your world dear Jen. Warmest hugs

@PEGGY - I saw you on Google+ So glad to reconnect, though I do keep up with you on FB. Stalking. =)
@FRIAR - I left you a note. Those Palmer girls were robotic and frighteningly similar. We used to try to mimic their dance. ;)
Your number 1 is MY number 1!
