Mexican Cowgirls and the La Pariente Food Truck | South OKC

Oklahoma City Food Trucks

Around 7 p.m. last night, I told the kids to get out of the pool. We were going on an adventure!

Barefoot and still wearing their bathing suits, we piled in the car and drove south. The kids love to drive across the bridge under construction on Western Avenue, the one that runs over the Oklahoma River.

Bridgette, you are so beautiful to me, especially with the sunlight on your face at sunset. Never lose your love.

I love these streets.

On Friday nights, they boom with Latin pop music, young lovers and Mexican food trucks. Prepare your taste buds for fire-hot green sauce, juicy asada burritos and colorful sodas swimming in ice.

Sully, your back is strong, and there is no need for you to ever settle for land east of the Jordan.

Jarritos Mexican Soda

Jarritos come in all flavors including strawberry, mango and pineapple. Sometimes, I feel like an intruder when I show up uninvited. The night is unrehearsed, unadulterated by some stilted festival that will never capture the authentic, private parade of preference and patriotism.

Mexican Cowboy Boots

Near the Mexican Food Truck was El Rancho Western Wear, the Baskin Robbins of Mexican Cowboy boots in Oklahoma City. The owner’s daughter was kind enough to let me take some pictures.

So many flavors to choose from. How will you decide?

He played music outside the store, which is located at the corner of SW 29th and Western Avenue.

Bridgy loves cowgirl boots! I promised her we’d come back and buy her a pair!

I’m glad they didn’t have that awful sign, No shirt, no shoes, no service. Sully was still wearing his bathing suit when we decided to pop in. He wanted to buy this big Mexican boot for Daddy. The kids absolutely had a ball in this store! A treasure trove of colors and fun!
