Yesterday was the 40th Anniversary of the original passage of the Equal Rights Amendment. In March 1972, the proposed amendment to the United States Constitution passed both the U.S. House of Representative and the U.S. Senate, but failed to receive the necessary number of state ratifications. Ten years later, the deadline for ratifications expired and the amendment was not adopted.

This seemed like a good subject for Flashback Friday, however, I wonder sometimes, if we’ll ever figure out any of this stuff, and honestly, if anyone, anywhere has anything new to say. I was standing in the grocery check out line the other day and the headline on the magazine read, “Lose 10 pounds in 3 days.” I’ve been reading that headline in women’s magazines for more than 30 years. Shouldn’t we be talking about more important things?
