Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween, World!

Oh, how precious these days are! I just squeeze all the love and joy out of them that I can. I’m so often reminded of that song from the 1980s. I think it was by Billy Joel. Forgive me for the sap, I can’t help it.

Sometimes it’s so easy to let a day slip on by
Without even seeing each other at all
But this is the time you’ll turn back to and so will I
And those will be the days you can never recall

I do hold onto these days. They mean everything to me!

Sullivan was a bat this year. There he was dashing across yards and streets in the hunt for the good candy. Do you know how hard it is to find a bat costume that isn’t Batman? Sullivan is sensitive and strong-willed. His affections are many, but always seem to catch me unaware. I wish I had more one-on-one time with him. He’s the most like me, by the way, even in the sense that he is always the first out of bed in the morning. He loves to get up and face the day and what adventures it might hold.

Sullivan, I take it back. Don’t go with the flow. Fight the flow every step of the way and surrender to the path God has created for you. I love you, Son, always!

After photographing the Oklahoma City Victory Dolls Roller Derby Girls in Day of the Dead costumes at the Halloween Parade, we decided to give it a whirl with the Super Bridgy. She wanted to be a vampire princess, but I don’t do blood on Halloween. And, the whole vampire thing totally creeps me out. I think Bridgy looked terrific. I’m so proud of my little girl. She is just as sweet in real life as she looks in all her pictures. A kind little soul. I love her to pieces.

You’ll be anything you want to be, little Bridgy.

And, here’s my cowgirl witch. Juey with a J is my super cool teenager who picked out the most awesome car for herself. She’s sworn me to secrecy, however, so I can’t say what it is yet. We bought it a couple of months ago and are taking the next year to fix it up. It’s very hard for me to believe she’ll be driving (DRIVING!) in less than a year!

Sweet Juliette, Everything that is or ever was began with a dream. So, dream gigantic. Don’t be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows.
