Do you need a babysitter? Someone to help you with your pets? Maybe you need someone to run some errands for you or do some housekeeping? If you’re like me, you are super protective of your family and would never bring anyone into your home without stalking them on all social networks and IRL. Ha!
Neoporter, an on-demand babysitting service serving OKC, Norman and Edmond, can help you. I know this, because they helped me.
On Saturday night, Katie, a nursing student from the University of Oklahoma, came to sit with our kids while Robert and I went to dinner. At Panera Bread — to eat sandwiches — and stare at each other — because in the course of raising these three kids we’ve forgotten what each other looks like.
After we ate our sandwiches we went to Goodwill. Yes, Goodwill. On our date. Yes, it was so upsetting. Yes, it was my idea! But, back to NEOPORTER. Here is the official description from the website:
…a top of the line, on-demand referral service for babysitting, errand running, pet sitting and senior companionship…We match helpers to your family based on your needs and preferences. Our helpers are experienced babysitters who each have strengths in other areas well, whether it’s experience with animals; efficient task masters, or compassion and love for our senior community….We service Oklahoma City, Edmond and Norman.
Neoreporter is a membership-based service. What I love about it is all the helpers are fully vetted. They’re all college undergrads and have all gone through background checks. We received Katie’s picture via email, and later the two of us exchanged texts. I was very comfortable with the setup.
Everyone who signs up to use Neoporter goes through a background check, too. (The Katies of the world need their safety ensured, too.) There are different membership levels and depending on the level to which you subscribe, you get a certain number of requests every 30 days. For $125, you get unlimited requests during a 30-day period. In addition, you must pay helpers an hourly wage. The starting rate is $10 an hour. Neoporter does not take a cut from the helpers’ earnings.
This handy infographic explains it pretty well. Click here to review the FAQs.
Neoporter was launched in 2012, by three awesome Oklahoma women: Mona Vaughn, Lydia Benham and Leah Sullivan. You can see their pictures and learn about them here. They have deep roots in the Central Oklahoma community. I have a lot of confidence in the company they’re building and the service they provide because they have confidence in it. They’ve put their reputations on the line to ensure busy moms and dads get the top of the line help they need.
And, Katie was and is top of the line. She’s exactly the kind of person I’d want to watch my kids: smart, responsible and willing to get down on the floor and play with them. She played board games with the kids and let Bridgy paint kitty cat whiskers on her face with a green crayon. Who could find fault with someone like that?
Thank you, Neoporter, for allowing me to review your service. I received a complimentary 30-day membership in exchange for this completely 100 percent independent blog post. Neoporter did not tell me what to write, and Katie gave me permission to use her picture in this post.
