Red Rock Canyon State Park | Oklahoma
On Sunday afternoon, we drove out to Red Rock Canyon, a state park near Hinton, Oklahoma. It’s about a five-mile drive off Interstate 40.
It was a beautiful day! We stopped by the Cherokee Trading Post on the way out and the Indian Trading Post on the way back home. We enjoyed a couple of short hikes, picking prickly pears and dodging grasshoppers and dragon flies. All-in-all, we had a good time.
It is one thing to watch my girls grow up. I’ve been a girl and I know what that is all about. But, watching my son grow up is a new adventure every day. It is remarkable watching him go from a little toddler with silky blond curls into a boy who plays a mean first base. He is the joy of my life!
Two or three years ago he won that little tiger stuffed animal at the Oklahoma State Fair. He’s 9 now and his love for Tiggy has only grown stronger. I wonder every day how long until he completely abandons him. No matter what, we’ll never part with him.

I wasn’t able to get a good shot of the outside of the Cherokee Trading Post Subway and Convenient Store, but here is the picture I took of it with my iPhone. I posted it to Instagram.
That frog picture is amazing!! Even cooler that you didn’t know they were there when you took it. And I’m sorry, but I kind of laughed at the near-fall photo — it’s just a really funny capture! I’m glad she’s okay though. 🙂
I haven’t been here in a very long time, makes me want to go back. We were going to camp here, but for some reason we didn’t. So sad 🙁
whoa! there are red rock canyons everywhere!! i just saw that there was one in california too… and of course, we live very close to one too in vegas! great photos! 🙂

I too was expecting to see the red rocks near Las Vegas. Looks like a great place for a family hike!
I didn’t realize there were other red rock canyon parks – I have been to the one outside of Vegas…but I know I wasn’t in OK! Mr. Misadventures loves these colors, rocks, etc. I like family-friendly hikes usually means they will be easy enough for me! Awesome photos!
