Take a moment and listen to this beautiful song, When I’m Gone, by Joey Feek. Feek is half of the Joey + Rory bluegrass duo. Feek has cervical cancer and has entered hospice.

CNN: Vaccine Too Late for Generation X

Virtually all cervical cancer is caused by HPV, which more than 20 million Americans have. This is the cancer that is going to kill a lot of Generation X women. I hate to share something so negative, but it’s true and more people need to know what their options are for prevention and treatment. CNN published an important story in early November. Read “Cancer on the rise and the vaccine too late for Generation X.”

Check out Joey + Rory’s beautiful website, which leads with the I Corinthians 13:13: And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Rory also has a blog, This Life I Live.

When I’m Gone Campaign

A campaign is underway to boost When I’m Gone to the top of the iTunes chart. You can learn more about that on Wide Open Country. Here are the haunting lyrics:

A bright sunrise will contradict
The heavy fog that weighs you down.

In spite of all the funeral songs,
The birds will make their joyful sounds.

You’ll wonder why the Earth still moves.
You’ll wonder how you’ll carry on.

But you’ll be okay on that first day when I’m gone.

Dusk will come with fireflies and whipoorwill and crickets call.

And every star will take it’s place
In silv’ry gown and purple shawl

You’ll lie down in our big bed
Dread the dark and dread the dawn.

But you’ll be alright on that first night when I’m gone.

You will reach for me in vain.
You’ll be whispering my name

As if sorrow were your friend
And this world so alien

But life will call with daffodils
And morning glorious blue skies.

You’ll think of me–some memory
And softly smile to your surprise.

And even though you love me still, you will know where you belong.

Just give it time. We’ll both be fine when I’m gone.

Yes, Joey is now part of the heavenly choir. So sad, so beautiful,so very young and she portrayed so much feelings when she sang. But God has his plans for her. Thank you Joey.

“Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing away; God alone is unchanging. Patience obtains everything .
    God Alone suffices.”
(St. Teresa of Avila, “Bookmark “)

A prayer for the Feeks and all those going through trials in life. I offered my communion and mass for this family. I lost my seven year old son to leukemia. I have had life changing and spiritual experiences since. Just know we WILL hold them and be in paradise with them very soon. “Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard what God has ready for those who love Him.”
May the Spirit of Peace and Gods Grace be with the Feeks and all those troubled .

Oh, my, I don’t know how anyone survives the loss of a child, but you write here with such grace and hope. I’ve no doubt your precious son is with the Lord. Truly, this brief encounter on the Internet has made my day. Suddenly, I feel less invisible. Thank you for stopping by and sharing.

Just a beautiful song that really hits one in the heart, two wonderful, good people and so young to be enduring such a loss, but it’s obvious God is so very much a part of their lives, and he will comfort and care for them all through this…..you will always be in my heart Joey!!!
