Pray More Novenas

Pink Sweet Almond Bush Spring

I first learned about novenas when my friend Laurie left a little book on my porch when my daughter was in North Africa. I was so worried about my girl traveling so far from home, and the book was an offering of faith, grace, prayer and comfort. It was one of the most generous acts of Christian love I have ever experienced, and made me truly feel part of the Church. I remain so grateful to Laurie for having taken the time to bring it to me.

The book is “The Original” Mothers’ Manual by A. Francis Coomes, S.J. It is full of beautiful prayers and directives for mothers. It has been a constant companion for me during the last two years. The prayers bring me great comfort, joy and hope during these sweet, hard days of parenting.

I am a big fan of Catholic radio, and that is where I first learned about John-Paul and Annie Deddens beautiful ministry, Pray More Novenas. I am currently on Day 7 of the St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Novena. I am praying every day for my husband Robert and expecting answers to our deepest prayers. God is faithful and will deliver us into the future we desire.

When you sign up for Pray More Novenas reminders, you join nearly 300,000 people praying together. There is a place on the website to post your intentions. This is such a powerful ministry. I hope it will bring you hope and comfort as it has me!

Through Pray More Novenas, I have also been participating this Lenten Season in the Pray More Lenten Retreat. I have really enjoyed it, and received some exceptional resources to help me on this often difficult journey of life. I have especially fallen in love with Beth Davis of Blessed Is She.

I will leave you with this short novena for Easter from All Day With God by Blanche Jennings Thompson.

O Divine Saviour, who rose from the dead on that first glorious Easter morn, grant that I may rise from my sins and so live as to see You, glorious and immortal, in heaven. Lord, I am nothing, but, although nothing, I adore You.
