Check out these beautiful Gilmer Majorettes, Vintage Twirler fans. Aren’t they beautiful!?

I love these majorette costumes with their fringed shorts and western hats. I’ve always loved the tradition of the head twirler wearing the opposite color of the twirling line. The knobs on the batons are quite a bit smaller these days. LOL.
I think these ladies are so beautiful! I would have loved to have seen them twirl back in the day. This was 65 years ago! I wasn’t even born yet, and all these ladies would be in their 80s today. Weren’t they adorable!?

When I attended Gilmer Junior High, all the majorettes pinned medals to their band jackets. These were won at marching band contests sponsored by UIL Texas, which is still going strong today. Some may have been won at the Tri-State Music Festival.

Gilmer Fight Song
On you Buckeyes, On you Buckeyes
Crash right through that line.
Down the field and through the tackles
A touchdown sure this time.
Rah, Rah, Rah!
On you Buckeyes, On you Buckeyes
Fight for future fame.
Fight Buckeyes! Fight, Fight, Fight!
And WIN this game!
