CONTACT
My name is Jennifer James McCollum (Jennifer James, APR) and I'm an American mother, writer and blogger. I live in Oklahoma City where I make my living in PR, digital strategies, advocacy and lobbying. I am a cause entrepreneur and am available for hire, so feel free to email me about projects you need staffed. I am also the director of Oklahomans for the Arts.
BLOG
I have been blogging since 1999, and began focusing on Generation X (the years are 1961-1981) in 2007. I blog about Generation X at the four-way stop of faith, family, culture and career. You'd be surprised how much is written about Gen X every day in major newspapers, magazines, etc.
POSTS
The posts I write cover a broad range of topics including career, marriage, faith, family, parenting, pop culture, 70s and 80s nostalgia and more. My parenting and career also posts feature Generation Y (b. 1982 to 1996/2000) and Generation Z (b. 2000 to present). Once in a while, when I'm feeling fearless or compromised, I might write about religion or politics.

PHOTOGRAPHY and OKLAHOMA
I also write about arts and culture in Oklahoma and I take pictures of the interesting things I see. I am always searching for the irony in the Oklahoma landscape. Through photography, I like documenting contradiction, incongruity and the unexpected. Most of the images I publish in the This Oklahoma Life™ series convey one or more of these attributes.

BACKGROUND and EDUCATION
I was born in Los Angeles in 1967 and have lived in Oklahoma City since 1985. I have degrees in political science, speech communication and communications. I worked as a public affairs professional for local, state and federal agencies for 17 years before starting my own public relations and advocacy business. Today, I serve as a professional advocate and PR practitioner, but I am first and foremost a writer.
I love being a wife and mother. I'm married to Robert, a fearless tax collector, and we have three kids, 14, 6 and 4. It's not easy taking care of them, managing a career and navigating the various challenges unique to Generation X, but I'm grateful for every day I am given.

Disclosure
At times, I am offered opportunities to write posts for compensation, as well as product reviews in exchange for the product I agree to review. While I appreciate such opportunities, I rarely accept them; however, when I do, it's 1) because the content complements the Generation X theme of this blog, and/or 2) because I believe the content has some value to my readers that extends beyond the compensation.
Every time I write for compensation you will know it, because I will link to this disclosure. I am committed to transparency in blogging. It is in keeping with ethics outlined by the Universal Accreditation Board of the Public Relations Society of America, to which I am bound professionally in order to maintain my accreditation in public relations (APR).
