Photos of Generation X Through Decades and Celebrations
I love collecting pictures of Generation X. This anonymous quote goes to the heart of my interest in sharing images of Gen-Xers: "If pictures have anything important to say to future generations, it's this: I was here. I existed. I was young, I was happy, and someone cared enough about me in this world to take my picture."
For several weeks I’ve been trying to come up with the perfect story, song or poem to go along with these wonderful black and white photos of young Gen-Xers. They were taken at an elementary school outside of Boston in the winter of 1974.I finally decided on this old John Denver song, Rhymes and Reasons...
A big comb sticking out of your back pocket is one of the great cultural icons of Generation X. Transport yourself back to the early 1980s and the local roller rink, and you’d surely witness a sea of feathered hair and lots of colorful Ace and Goody combs.

More Old Pictures of Generation X
I love these happy girls so much and I want them to know, wherever they are, that this picture is a gift to their generation. It’s a total time capsule for every 6th grader who lived in first-world nations in 1985. They were all born around 1973, except the little one. (She’s probably a Bicentennial Baby named Nicole.) I only have one regret. That I am not in that picture with them. Godspeed, Xers.
