Today, Sully, Juliette, and I finally felt well enough to get out for a while, so we headed up to Edmond, Oklahoma to visit my mom. She’s been sick too.On the way home, the hymn, Great Is Thy Faithfulness played on the radio.
We were all very tired and the car was unusually quiet. Then, right before the fourth stanza, Sullivan said, “This is the song Froggy says to me.” Froggy is Sully’s imaginary friend whom he describes as a turtle.
From the fourth stanza:
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Today, I wonder if Sullivan’s imaginary friend is the Spirit of God.
this is a wonderful connection jen – I adore your boy 🙂 le
What is it about kids and lady bugs? My kids generally don’t like bugs, but they do like lady bugs.
i love sully! froggy sounds like a better influence than the imaginary friend i had at that age: Michael Jackson!
@timshelblog – thank you! and, i always miss the old masthead when i post a new one. it takes awhile. ha!
@Dee – Thank you for stopping by. He was giggling in this photo saying, “It’s tickling me!” Thanks for sharing. My boy will be 14 b/f I know it, I’m sure.
@Farmgirl – I love that Froggy in the shape of a turtle is what he can “accept and trust.” I never thought about it like that before. I do hope he maintains his ability to see things unseen. This reminds me of that song my Jo Dee Messina – Because You Love Me. Have you heard???
@Rebecca – Thank you. I love that.
@ Billy – That is some story. I didn’t know that. That is a post all on its own.
@Mom – Thank you. I told Robert that Sully said, “She calls me angel.”
@Yogi – Thanks, Yogi!
Wonderful. Your comment at the end gave me the chills (a good thing).
I have the greatest life in the world, because I was there to expirience the time spent with the ladybug.

Jen–
I am amazed at the sensitivity Sully has. I am assured angels visit with him often. Truly, God has manifest Himself in Froggy. I read this post with both humor and and insite. I belive with all my heart — God, In His GREAT Faithfulness, has something special planned for Sully. What a Blessing this little “Angel” is.
Hugs– Mom
I love this song. It has special meaning to me.
The night before I underwent surgury to remove my cancerous kidney, my friend, BIG KENNY, brought his guitar to my Queen of the Valley Hospital room and played this beautiful song for me. I was in tears by the time he finished. The whole 5th floor felt the blessings pouring forth, and my room-mate, who had the hiccups for FIVE MONTHS (day and night) suddenly was delivered from them.
Prayers go up today for BIG KENNY, who is struggling with physical problems of his own. Please pray for him.
Thank you for such a beautiful, timely and TIMELESS song.
That is so sweet. What a wonderful song for Froggy to sing to Sully. Froggy is Sully’s guardian angel-we all have one. He comes in the shape of a turtle because that is what Sully can accept & trust at this time. Mine was called Tom & while I no longer can picture him I know he had human form & was my playmate. I can still feel his image & presence. He has been with me as long as I can remember. For Sully it will be the same. Some children are just more in tune & able to see that which is unseen to others. Some of us are able to do this our whole life, others forget how to. I believe Sully just may have the gift for the rest of his life. It is an awesome & awe-inspiring gift.
Blessed be…
Oh, that was so lovely and brought back memories of my baby boy (who is now 14). I love it that he loves God, and I’m so glad you’re feeling better. The ladybug and his expression are priceless.~~Dee
He is just precious, Jen!!
And, love the masthead. 🙂
