“JPerry” has written a poem, Rant from a Generation X Survivor, posted just today at gotpoetry.com. All the usual suspects (God, divorce, loneliness, cereal, etc.) are present in this poem, which is both sad and thoughtful. The writer describes himself as an Irish Catholic who almost got married once, but “she was crazier than I was.” I thought that was pretty funny.
Here is an excerpt, which I dearly love:
“Ode to my generation, we Generation X, while we look for more, finding our path in ourselves as opposed to the world, giving ourselves the moment — looking for God in those 2 a.m. cigarettes, as we look to the stars in the sky on all those many nights.”
