All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord,  nor yet the work which He had done for Israel. –Book of Judges

According to yet another study by the Pew Research Center, Generation X and Generation Y continue to shun religion. This ongoing struggle between Generation X and church is nothing new with Xers, but it looks as though it’s occurring to an even greater degree among Gen Y.

The New York Times ran an opinion editorial by Charles Blow about this.

Holy Hip Hop

One church’s answer to the declining numbers of Gen X and Gen Y is holy hip-hop. The hip-hop generation has been called the urban, African-American segment of Generation X.

Check out the article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Finally, an article on Lifeway says that no topic has been discussed in the 21st church more than how to reach the Generation X crowd. The writer outlines four ways to reach Generation X. He calls Generation X despondent.

Do you think Generation X is despairing, desperate, and hopeless? Do you believe the struggle between Generation X and church can be resolved?

Having Generation X’s say at Church means further degeneracy built upon their Counter-Culture parents and/or their rationalyzers.
