1989 Prom

It’s prom season! Every year, I look forward to seeing teenagers in tuxedos escorting their prom divas to dinner at one of the restaurants along the Bricktown Canal in OKC. I find it all so amusing. Before I had kids, I actually made note of the date of at least one big, local prom. I’d make a point to have dinner that night on the balcony at Chelino’s in order to sneak a peek at the delightful ridiculosity of it all.

Several times over the years, I’ve seen groups of prom-bound teens in OKC gather outside a parent’s house for group pictures. Just so you know, it’s usually the house of the parent who rents the limo. (Taking notes for future reference.)

My high school prom was May 4, 1985. It wasn’t nearly as big of a deal as proms are today, but it sure was fun! This first picture was taken at my senior prom. All the rest are from Flickr by way of the Creative Commons License. Enjoy!

And, do tell. Did you attend your senior prom? What song do you remember from that night?
