Shot through the heart
And you’re to blame
You give love
A bad name…
Rock star Jon Bon Jovi was a trending topic on Twitter today after a fake news release announced the singer was dead at age 49. Fortunately, he is very much alive. Fortunately, Jon Bon Jovi hair isn’t. Ha!
I mean it’s one thing to lose Gen X icons like Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett on the same day. They were at least the generation ahead of me (Baby Boomers). But, I’m not quite ready to lose Gen X icons who are members of Generation X.
The hoax got me to thinking about Bon Jovi’s gorgeous hair, which has nearly 4,000 Facebook fans. If you’ve ever doubted the rock star’s iconic status I offer the above 80s prom pictures as proof. If it weren’t for the tuxes and dresses I wouldn’t be able to tell the boys from the girls. They’re total Bon Jovi knockoffs.
.
Ahhh, those were the days, my friend. Sweet and tender memories of spandex, ripped T-shirts, fried-out hair, and songs about daddies girls turning into little runaways. Throw in a little nuclear holocaust for good measure. If this isn’t an authentic representation of Generation X pop culture I don’t know what is.
The truth is, this guy scared the absolute crap out of me as a teenager. All the guys in that prom photo, too.
