All the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice…
Isaac Watts, 1707
In Judea, on the other side of the Jordan, Jesus healed a crowd, and children gathered around him. He talked about marriage and divorce, and he told one man how he could live forever: Obey the 10 commandments.
How To Be Complete
The man said he’d kept all of the commandments and wanted to know what more he could do. Jesus then told him something that I think is one of his most overlooked teachings. He said, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
I’ve spent a couple of years thinking about this verse. I thought about it last week when I snapped the first picture of the homeless woman, and I thought about it again yesterday, when I leaned out the back window of our moving Jeep to get the above shot. I have no idea why this woman has written all over her car with duct tape. But, one thing I do understand is that she needs money for gas.
hello darling girl … there is a desperation in that second pic that chills me to the bone …. gas may be the least of her worries although an immediate one …. spread the love jen le xox
If just 10% of all peoples on earth truly followed Christ, we absolutely would not need gas! I am convinced! Very good point, Jen! Thank you! Thank you for these powerful photos, as well! Lead on, girl!
