My Parents Were Awesome is a 2011 book by Eliot Glazer. It’s full of awesome pictures of awesome parents in the age before filters, Flickr and Picmonkey’s touch-up tool.

Most of the parents featured in the book are Baby Boomers — some holding Gen-Xers — like this one featuring a family of hippies.

Some of the pictures feature Generation X parents and even parents much older including the Silent Generation and G.I. Generation.

The book includes lots of great stories from sons and daughters of the parents featured. You can still get it on Amazon. The original Tumblr for the project is also still live. Visit My Parents Were Awesome.
