Chloe

…Now we went walking in the rain talking about the pain from the world we hid
Now there ain’t nobody nowhere nohow gonna ever understand me the way you did…
–Springsteen and Bobby Jean

The best evidence I have these days that there is a God and He loves me came from my recent visit from Chloe, author of the blog Light From A Pixel. She is, for all practical purposes, my spiritual mentor — even my spiritual director. She said some very nice things about me in this post, Meeting Jennifer. I feel awkward passing it along as it feels a bit like the chef complimenting the pot, but I feel like not acknowledging these beautiful words would be a false humility and pride that I don’t want to define me. So, thank you in advance for your understanding.

And, Chloe, thank you for coming to visit me. Thank you for staying up all night to pray for me — more than once. I have never known anyone like you and never will again. I thank God for your journey, for your wisdom, for your friendship. You are a rare treasure in this world and you are in my heart forever.

I used to listen to that Springsteen album in the early ’90s in high school when no one else my age (that I knew of) was listening to it. I used to think about how cool it would be to have a friendship like the one he mentions in that song…and now I do. We were “out on that road somewhere” just as he mentions in the song, and we found each other. Lots of love to you.
