DAILY PHOTO: Mother and Son, 1975. The little boy in this picture paid tribute to his mom recently when he posted this photo on a social network. Sadly, she died from COVID19 on May 8, 2020. I contacted him (Millwood798) and requested permission to share the picture. He was so gracious and obliged.
“I miss her chocolate cakes, her sweet potato pie, her turkey wings with celery seeds, etc.,” he wrote. “Most of all I miss her kisses. Even though I’m 48, she would still give me that good sugar.”
Excerpt: A Brave and Startling Truth
A poem by Maya Angelou
…We, this people, on this small and drifting planet
Whose hands can strike with such abandon
That in a twinkling, life is sapped from the living
Yet those same hands can touch with such healing, irresistible tenderness
That the haughty neck is happy to bow
And the proud back is glad to bend
Out of such chaos, of such contradiction
We learn that we are neither devils nor divines…
I am so sorry for your loss.
