Follow the conversation about Field Day on Facebook where Russell writes, “I’m kinda feeling stressed anyway but this picture brings me to tears. I would give almost anything to be any of those kids in 1979. I want to go back to Jackling Elementary school in Granger Utah. Dairy cows and amazing memories. 1979 was such a happy time for me. I want to be happy again…..”

I loved iron-on-letter T-shirts! They were so popular in the 1970s. I got my first one at a little shop in Kermit, Texas in 1976. It was sky blue with thick, glossy letters. On the front was my name, JENNIFER, and on the back, PREACHER’S KID, a fair warning to all teachers. Pfffft. If only I’d had the guts to stand up for myself prior to the age of 50. LOL.
I hope you enjoy the pictures! God bless the little brunette in these pictures who cannot help from squinting. Also, the comments about “Tammy” are hilarious. Be sure to check out the conversation on Facebook! The blog’s fan page now has more than 35,000 followers. Yea!
Old School Field Day – 1980
Check out this footage of field day in 1980. All the good stuff is here — tug-o-war, three-legged races, the party at the end of the day. I loved field day! Check out my ribbons from 1976 and 1977-78.
