2025 Marks the 50th Anniversary of Jaws

Can you believe Jaws turns 50 this year? I’ve been blogging here so long—17 years and counting—I actually wrote about the 40th anniversary, too. If you were around in 1975, you remember the Jaws phenomenon: suddenly, every trip to the beach felt like a thriller, and even backyard swimming pools weren’t safe from imaginary shark fins. Now, half a century later, Jaws is still a cultural icon, and the 50th anniversary merch? Pretty terrific!!

You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Shopping Cart

Universal has launched a dedicated JAWS  50th Anniversary storefront on Amazon, gathering all your favorite nostalgia-worthy collectibles, apparel, and home goods in one place. Here are a few of my favorite things:

Please note: These are affiliate links and I might earn 10 cents if you buy something.

My favorite piece of merch is the cutest retro shark tee for the next generation. You can get it from Old Navy today for just $8.99! I also love this Amity Beach Rescue mug from Snorgtees.

The Big Bite

The big bite is a brand-new documentary, Jaws @ 50, airs July 10 on NatGeo, with streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. And if you’re in Los Angeles this fall, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is launching Jaws: The Exhibition in September. It will feature more than 200 original items: storyboards, Spielberg’s early camera, Brody’s costume, a real shark dorsal fin, and the full-scale model of Bruce, the mechanical shark that terrorized audiences.

Whether you first saw it in theaters or on VHS or cable, now’s the time to celebrate the movie that made us afraid to go to the beach.

Did you see Jaws in the Summer of 1975? If so, who’d you see it with? I would love to share your memories!
