Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret To Become A Movie

“It’s not so much that I like him as a person God, but as a boy he’s very handsome.” ― Judy Blume, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret

Judy Blume’s coming-of-age story, Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, will finally be made into a movie. You can read details about it on Deadline.com.

I read the book in the spring of 8th grade. My best friend Linda who lived up the street from me in Gilmer, Texas, loaned me her copy. I’m so glad she did.

Like so many countless others, the book had a great influence on me. It made me more inclined to share my faith, and less inclined to feel shame over all the changes adolescence brought my way. A universal tale, it revealed everything I was thinking.

The first generation of adolescent girls to read Judy Blume’s iconic young adult novel were first-wave Gen-Xers like me. (The book was first published in 1970.) I was 12 when I read it in 1981.  Now, the daughters of Gen-Xers will be the first generation of adolescents to watch the movie.

What do you think about Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret? becoming a movie?
